MOLLY HATCHET |
Musicians: Titles: OK, I probably don't know the parameters set concerning today the achievement of the Molly Hatchet albums but I have to admit that we can have the right to be a bit surprised (?). And this Regrinding The Axes is the perfect example of that ! While all the fans of this ‘’Southern Rock’’ giant are impatiently waiting for an album that really fits with what the music of Molly Hatchet represents for them, an album of covers, admittedly customised and recorded in a respectable way, arrives on our turntables, but is it really what the fans are hoping ? Anyway, despite everything I feel duty-bound to set this album in the CD reader to discover its contours et atmospheres ! It starts with « Bad To The Bone » (George Thorogood), nice of course, but why make other artists' covers on a Molly Hatchet album ? Same record for « Sharp Dressed Man » (ZZ Top), « The Boys Are Back in Town » (Thin Lizzy), « Melissa » (ABB), « Yesterday » et « Back in the USSR » (Beatles), aso... Of course the ‘’Southern Rock’’ fans like those tunes, but even if the band gives us good versions of « Tumbling Dice » or « Wild Horses » for example, nonetheless the fact remains that overall the band's enthusiasts are waiting from Bobby, Phil, Dave, Tim, a real new album that positions again Molly Hatchet on the highest stairs of the Southern Rock, and from what I read on the various music sites, it's a wish that many people are sharing ! Keep on, Southern Rock ! |
